Welcoming Speech Part I (introduced by Laure Ernotte)

Introduction Video - "The World As One"

Lyrics - The World As One

“The World as One”

Russell Pascoe (UK composer) & Amandine Minet (singer)

Verse 1

The world is silent – our words have gone astray.

It shows its dark side, – there’s nothing more to say.

This is the moment when thoughts must change to deeds,

When actions speak the loudest, the time is ours to seize.

Chorus

We will turn another corner,

Find another road.

We must seek a new direction;

Pay the debt we owe.

We must look to the future,

Learn from the past.

We must ask another question,

Find another answer,

Listen to the silence and

Let the music sing in our souls.

Verse 2

The world is waiting - the dreams we dream today

Are the paths for tomorrow, old maps we throw away.

We must be certain, be bold and take our chance,

Be brave and stand together – the World as One advance.

Sophie Marischal - NID Manager

Olaf Mertens - Headmaster of Institut de la Providence, Champion

Music Interlude

Lyrics - Medley Environment by Amandine Minet (singer) & Emilien Hallez (piano)

Earth Song

What about sunrise?

What about rain?

What about all the things

That you said we were to gain?

What about killing fields?

Is there a time?

What about all the things

That you said was yours and mine?

Did you ever stop to notice

All the blood we've shed before?

Did you ever stop to notice

This crying Earth, these weeping shores?

All the good girls go to hell

Standing there, killing time

Can't commit to anything but a crime

Peter's on vacation, an open invitation

Animals, evidence

Pearly gates look more like a picket fence

Once you get inside 'em

Got friends but can't invite them

Hills burn in California

My turn to ignore ya

Don't say I didn't warn ya

All the good girls go to hell

'Cause even God herself has enemies

And once the water starts to rise

And heaven's out of sight

She'll want the devil on her team

My Lucifer is lonely

Mercy mercy me (the ecology)

Woah, ah, mercy, mercy me

Ah, things ain't what they used to be

Where did all the blue skies go?

Poison is the wind that blows

From the north and south and east

Woah mercy, mercy me, yeah

Ah, things ain't what they used to be

Oil wasted on the ocean and upon our seas

Fish full of mercury

Is this the world we created ?

Is this the world we created?

What did we do it for?

Is this the world we invaded

Against the law?

So it seems in the end

Is this what we're all living for today?

The world that we created

Heal the world

There's a place in your heart

And I know that it is love

And this place it was brighter than tomorrow

And if you really try

You'll find there's no need to cry

In this place you'll feel there's no hurt or sorrow

There are ways to get there

If you care enough for the living

Make a little space

Make a better place

Heal the world

Make it a better place

For you and for me, and the entire human race

There are people dying

If you care enough for the living

Make a better place for you and for me

Imagine

Imagine there's no countries

It isn't hard to do

Nothing to kill or die for

And no religion, too

Imagine all the people

Livin' life in peace

You

You may say I'm a dreamer

But I'm not the only one

I hope someday you'll join us

And the world will be as one

Circle of life

From the day we arrive on the planet

And, blinking, step into the sun

There's more to see than can ever be seen

More to do than can ever be done

There's far too much to take in here

More to find than can ever be found

But the sun rolling high

Through the sapphire sky

Keeps great and small on the endless round

It's the circle of life

And it moves us all

Through despair and hope

Through faith and love

'Til we find our place

On the path unwinding

In the circle

The circle of life

We are the world

We are the world

We are the children

We are the ones who make a brighter day, so let's start giving

There's a choice we're making

We're saving our own lives

It's true we'll make a better day, just you and me

Workshop "The MEGA Video Project" with Florian (CF), Claire (FE) & Marion (LM)

Using what you have learnt about environment in Namur, you will have to create a video about how green the city is and compare it to your city in your country. Have fun!

To help each group, you can use photos and videos from the previous conferences held in your countries. The goal is really to make a synthesis of what we have all done together based on the progress of each school. You can post you pictures and videos on the Drive here. Thank you!
