Today we went on an amazing journey to Holocaust museum, Museum of American History, and Fords theater. Although we woke up really early and we had a long day of walking and traveling, I think it was a very fun and it was a great learning experience. We had a wonderful lunch and dinner, with the lunch being a choice of 2 restaurants. And dinner being a choice of a bunch of different foods, personally, I thought it was very good. After lunch we headed over to Museum of American History and we looked around freely for about 2 hours. Then we went to dinner and had a fun time talking with friends outside. Following dinner was an amazing seeing of monuments and memorials. We saw the MLK Jr. Memorial first, learning about the position of him on the statue, and how the position of him was significant to many things. Then we went over the FDR Memorial and learned why is was the longest memorial (because he had the longest term in office). After that, we walked over to the Jefferson Memorial and hung out with friends and took pictures of the statue. Over all, I found it was a wonderful day, with new experiences and learning opportunities.
This morning we began our day with a nice breakfast at the hotel. Our first stop was the Arlington Cemetery, where we saw very many graves. We saw the graves of brave soldiers who fought for our country along with their spouses and children under 18. We also saw the tomb of the unknown soldier, and even President Kennedy's grave. We then walked to the changing of the guards which was at the tomb of the unknown soldier. After Arlington, we went to a souvenir shop. We then continued our trip by going to the House of Representatives, which is where we had lunch. It was very interesting to learn about. After we finished at the House of Representatives we went to the Library of Congress and got to explore and learn new things. It was fun. After we finished there, we went to the Capitol and met our Representative from the Twin Cities and got to ask him questions, and listen to him talk about what he does. He was very nice. He took selfies with us and gave us ice cream! We also got a personal tour of the Capitol. After the Capitol, we went to the White House and got our picture taken in front of it! It was amazing! We even saw snipers! After that we went to a nice Italian restaurant where we had dinner! After dinner, we visited the World War II Memorial. It was an amazing thing to see! It was a great day!
We started our day at 5:30 am today. We ate our breakfast at the hotel at 6:30 am and departed for Gettysburg, PA. On the way there we watched National Treasure. When we arrived we visited a Civil War museum, then watched a documentary on it, and saw a 180 year old painting there. After that we went on a bus tour of important battle fields in Gettysburg. On the way home we stopped for lunch at General Pickett's Buffet. Then we departed for DC. We then went to the Air and Space Smithsonian Museum. After this we went to the Iwo Jima Memorial, the Pentagon Memorial, and then we went to dinner at the food court in the Pentagon mall. Having eaten dinner, we visited the Vietnam War Memorial, the Korean War Memorial, and the Lincoln Memorial. Finally we came back to the hotel for a much needed rest and to begin packing. It was a great day here on the East Coast!
