Students enrolled in this course must already have the ability to read and write music notation. In addition, students should already be competent at performing in voice or on an instrument. Students enrolled in this course will study melody, harmony, texture, rhythm, form, musical analysis, and composition. Students will also develop listening skills, such as sight-singing and melodic, rhythmic, and harmonic dictation. This course is designed for serious music students. Students who take AP courses are expected to take the AP exam in May.
