We wear this for all color guard events: pep rallies, football games, competitions, etc. The products listed with the Base Makeup Tutorial are suggestions from our makeup artist. You do not have to purchase the exact brand listed, but students will need each item on the list.
Utilize this tutorial to perfect your foundation and brows
This is a basic eyeshadow tutorial that we will use for pep rallies, football games, and parades (basically everything, except competitions - which have specific makeup looks). We ask that the colors stay in a neutral, but adding a shimmer color is ok. Please find neutrals that look best with your skintone.
Everyone will need to have a red lip color with this look. It's important to find the right shade of red for your skintone. Ulta and Sephora have people that can help you find this shade, if you need it.
*Hair can be curly, straight, or braided - whatever works best for the individual student's hair and texture. Students that do not want to use a middle part can opt out and not part the hair with the headband. The tutorials below are for reference. Side parts are also allowed - the first tutorial gives a great example of how to keep the parted section secure and in place.

For students with long hair, we will be wearing a low bun for your show hair. Students should have a middle part, and slicked back hair. We will wear our Spirit Headband with this style as well. If you have bangs, please style behind the headband - use bobby pins as needed. No stray pieces of hair in front of the headband, please, all hair should be secured behind the headband.
This is a good tutorial for the hair "donut" version of how to achieve your low bun. You can also use sock(s) to get your "donut" shape. The thicker your hair, the larger the "donut" or sock should be. You want to find a "donut" or sock that Is close to your hair color.
This is a style that you might need a partner to achieve, to make sure your bun is even. Hair pins, elastics, and bobby pins in your hair color are a must-have for this style.
Students with short hair will need to curl their hair and wear their headband with their hair curled. This tutorial is a good example of what we're looking for in the styling. She ends up with a side part, but we're looking for a middle part with this look. If you have bangs, please style behind the headband - use bobby pins as needed. No stray pieces of hair in front of the headband, please, all hair should be secured behind the headband.
Students will receive eye shadows, eyeliner, and lipstick for this look. If you are new to color guard, you will also receive a blush palette as well. Students should utilize this video to for their makeup on competition days. If you do not already own makeup brushes, please reference the list at the top of this page with a list of the basics that every color guard member needs.
All students will need to purchase their own eyelashes & eyelash adhesive.
It is important that students learn how to apply their own makeup, so that they can do so when we travel to Grand Nationals. All students should have a travel, stand mirror that they can use to put their makeup on if they aren't able to do so in front of a bathroom mirror.
