Who are your Sibshops Facilitators:
Julia is a recently retired special educator who now serves as the Director of The Arc of the DFW Area. She is married to David and is the proud mother of four adult children. Julia will soon become the legal guardian of her younger brother, Bobby, who has autism. Passionate about supporting siblings of individuals with disabilities, she has facilitated Sibshops for more than a decade — a role she deeply values. Julia often reflects that she wishes a program like Sibshop had been available when she was growing up.
Dwanda is a wife and mother of three boys, including one with a disability. A longtime Sibshop facilitator, she has a deep passion for supporting families and siblings of individuals with disabilities. In her free time, Dwanda enjoys live music, spending time outdoors, and making memories with her family.
Abigail is an Adapted PE teacher in Prosper ISD and was thrilled to join Sibshop when she began working in the district. As a Sib herself, she believes Sibshops provide a wonderful opportunity for siblings to connect with others who share similar experiences — offering the understanding and sense of belonging she wished she’d had growing up. In her free time, Abigail enjoys spending time with family and friends, working on jigsaw puzzles, and crocheting.
Sibshops provide brothers and sisters who have siblings with special needs peer support and information in a lively, recreational setting.
