The best way to choose an instrument is to see what sounds most exciting to you!
Woodwind instruments are usually played by blowing air into a mouthpiece, causing the instrument to vibrate. The player presses keys on the instrument to change pitches.
Brass players play their instruments by blowing air through a mouthpiece, and vibrating their lips to create sound. Each of these instruments uses valves or a slide to change the pitch of the instrument.
Percussionists play by striking their instrument with a stick, mallet, or their hands. The percussion section has the largest variety of instruments, and percussionists learn to play them all!
