2023 PHS Homecoming Parade

Welcome to the 2023 Prosper ISD Homecoming Parade. We thank you for supporting Prosper ISD through your participation in this year’s parade. The theme is: “A Rich Heritage, A Promising Future”.

Parade Instructions and Guidelines
BUS SERVICE - for PHS athletes, fine arts, and student participants in the parade. Students will be picked up at the designated areas at each campus. These areas are to be determined and communicated by PISD transportation.
FLOAT ASSEMBLY & DECOR - Assemble your float and determine a meeting place with riders prior to arriving at the staging area. Decorations are not to cover the exhaust pipe or be placed in a position where they may interfere with the exhaust system. All decorations shall be made of fire-retardant materials. MAXIMUM HEIGHT for all float decorations is 12 FEET. **This is measured from the ground to the top of float decor. NOT the top of the float surface.
BICYCLES - No bicycles are allowed in the parade.
DRIVERS - All drivers must have a valid driver’s license and proof of insurance, current inspection, & registration on vehicles as well as trailers used in the parade. All vehicles and trailers must be properly maintained, and street legal. This includes all trailer hitches and connections. (Trailer lights must work.)
CHECK-IN - IF YOU DO NOT ARRIVE AT ASSIGNED TIME, YOU WILL NOT BE INCLUDED IN THE PARADE.
STAGING AREA - The staging area will open BETWEEN 5:00 pm-5:45 pm for PHS floats. All floats will be given and “A” or “B” stage entrance along with a staging time. DO NOT ARRIVE EARLY and park in the parking lot!
HIGH SCHOOL FLOATS - Please park at Prosper high school and use the buses to get to the staging area. ALL PHS PARTICIPANTS WILL BE DROPPED OFF at the shopping center. Sponsors will walk participants to their floats.
WATER - All organizations are encouraged to ensure float participants have access to drinks on the float. PLEASE pick up after your participants! Floats are responsible for ALL TRASH this year!
RESTROOMS - Restrooms are available at the end of the parade at PHS turf field. Do not allow students to go in groups to the shopping center restrooms, we want to be allowed to come back and use the shopping center for future events.
PARTICIPANTS - Once in the staging area, participants must remain with their float. Adults in charge of floats will supervise all float participants. Please keep ALL participants by the float. With floats arriving at various times, it is important to keep all participants on or immediately beside your float.
CANDY - Candy will be allowed to be handed out at the parade.
CAR LENGTH - Maintain 1½ to 2 car lengths between you and the participant in front of you. Do not STOP to talk to people. DO NOT STOP to let a float rider off the float. Riders must remain on float from the beginning to the end of the parade unless there is an emergency. FLOATS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO LEAVE THE PARADE ROUTE ONCE THE PARADE HAS BEGUN.
MUSIC - All music played on the float must be school appropriate. No profanity of any kind.
SPECTATORS - The Parade begins at the intersection of 1st Street and N. Coleman. Spectators will not be able to view the parade from the PHS parking lot. Parade will end at the entrance to the auditorium side of Prosper HS. Spectators are not allowed on the streets in the path of the parade, please refrain from standing on the roadways during the parade.
WALKERS - All Trailers MUST have a passenger in the cab to watch for pedestrians AND are required to have a minimum of FOUR (4) walkers positioned at the front and back of the trailer. All other vehicles are required to have a minimum of TWO (2) walkers. Golf carts do not require walkers. Walkers are there to deter the spectators from running up to the parade vehicles.
There is a mandatory meeting on August 23, at 6:00pm in the PHS Auditorium. Please enter through the auditorium end of PHS.
CLEAN-UP - Staging area cleanup - All float participants are responsible for making sure the staging area is cleaned up and that all debris is removed. Please bring a trash bag to ensure you have nothing left behind.
DISMANTLING - All dismantling must be done off any PISD property. THIS INCLUDES HAY AND SIGNS.
REFUNDS - There are no refunds in case of rain. PISD Administration will make final decisions on parade cancellations.
LIABILITY RELEASES - ALL participants must have a SIGNED Liability release/permission form. All forms must be kept with/on the participants float. It is the sponsors responsibility to ensure that all forms are obtained for every rider.
SAFETY - Do not leave your float until you are certain that all participants are picked up or have rides home. Safety of all participants and spectators are the responsibility of the PISD sponsor.
EMERGENCIES - Should you encounter any difficulties, it is recommended you contact the Prosper Police Department’s non-emergency number at 972.347.2226. If you have a true emergency, please dial 9-1-1. There will be a police presence in the staging area and throughout the route. We will do everything possible to help you resolve any situations onsite, but please keep those numbers available in case you are unable to locate parade personnel in a timely manner.
The utmost concern is the safety of all parade participants and spectators. Please do your part to ensure ALL guidelines are followed and that you and your participants exercise extreme care and caution.
