Creating your Match, Reach, & Safety Colleges List in your California Colleges account allows you to explore more about the colleges you're applying to and keep everything in one place!
You have until October 24th to enter!
A college list encourage you to ask important questions about college, such as "How much does it cost to attend school there?" "Do I want to go to college in a city or in a small town?' or "What majors does this college offer?" The more questions you ask, the more refined your Match, Reach, and Safety college list becomes, hopefully making your college application process a little bit easier.
You'll create your list in your California Colleges account. Please make sure to list at least three colleges and label them with "Match," "Reach," or "Safety". Even if you only plan to apply to one college, take some time to explore other options!
Watch the video below to see how to create your Match, Reach, and Safety College List.
What is a Match Reach and Safety School?
Match: Schools where you meet the basic eligibility requirements and where your qualifications are like most entering freshmen.
Reach: Schools you really want to go to, but where you just barely meet or don’t quite meet the eligibility requirements.
Admissions staff often look at the whole student, including your extracurricular activities and personal statement. They won’t admit anyone whose grade and scores are far below the standards. But, they sometimes consider students who can explain why they didn’t quite meet the GPA requirement.
Safety: Schools you’ll probably be admitted to because you have gone way beyond the eligibility requirements.
