The Promise Scholars Opportunity Scholarships offer students a chance to win $500 in scholarship money at each step! There is NO minimum GPA, NO essays, and NO citizenship requirement… Just do the steps and complete our application before the deadline. The more steps that students complete, the more chances they have to win! Students can jump in at any time during the scholarship series and must attend Chaffey, Colony, Montclair, Ontario, or Valley View High School to be eligible.
The best part is, if students complete ALL 9 steps, they will be entered into a raffle to receive up to a $15,000 scholarship! There will be FOUR $15,000 grand prize recipients and FOUR $10,000 grand prize recipients - one at Chaffey High School, one at Montclair High School, and one at Ontario High School - so stay on track and it might be you!
To qualify for the $500 scholarship, students must:
Currently attend Chaffey, Colony, Montclair, Ontario, or Valley View High School
To qualify for the $10,000 or $15,000 scholarship, students must:
Have promoted from an OMSD school
Currently attend Chaffey, Ontario, or Montclair High School
No, the Opportunity Scholarship is intended to be accessible to all students. A family's income has no effect on student eligibility for the scholarships.
Yes! Every time a student applies for a Step of the Opportunity Scholarship, they are entered into the raffle, regardless of whether or not they have received a previous Step scholarship; therefore, it is possible for a student to win more than one scholarship.
Additionally, a student who has received a $500 Step scholarship will still be eligible for the $10,000 or $15,000 scholarship if they complete all 9 Opportunity Scholarship steps and meet the $10,000/$15,000 criteria (see above).
Student recipients will be notified through an announcement in one of their senior classrooms!
The College Ambassador Supervisor will reach out to you in the fall to verify your enrollment in a college or university. Once confirmed, the Ontario-Montclair Schools Foundation (OMSF) will issue a check to your college/university with instructions to put it towards any tuition or costs owed to the school. If there are none, the college is instructed to refund whatever money is leftover from the check to you, the student.
Yes, please reach out to Ráelyne Moreno at RMoreno@iscuw.org or (909) 493-5447 if you would like to opt out of being posted or announced publicly as a recipient.
