Paediatric, family and special Care dentistry
OUTBACK communities can expect the same full range of general dental services that are likewise available at our medical centre based city surgeries (MYTOOTHDOCTOR™ Townsville and Northen Beaches), with a very strong focus on dental emergency and dental trauma management, paediatric dentistry and special needs dentistry.
Our denture services are very affordable at pensioner rates. Fillings, sealants and hygiene services are ideal for families needing regular preventative care.
For patients with complex dental needs (adults with severe dental phobia, the very young child, or children with special needs), the option for multiple visit dental treatments and minor oral surgery with relative analgesia (happy gas) or full dental rehabilitation under general anaesthetic is readily available.
For patients in remote locations needing specialist consults, we are the first mobile dental practice to offer teledentistry with paediatric and orthodontic specialists in Townsville and Brisbane.
POD is also involved in Primary Health Care and Oral Health Promotion and is available for oral health delivery outsourcing and institutional partnerships.
Specialised equipment
In addition to its purpose fitted 25-foot "TOOTH SHUTTLE" (dental van), Project Outback Dental is the very first and so far the only private dental practice in Australia to offer its patients a portable dental wheelchair recliner. The patient remains in their wheelchair, which eliminates manual handling and hoisting. The patient is reclined to bring the head down to the optimum height for the dentist to operate.
With the bariatric bench accessory, this compact wheelchair platform converts into a dental chair for use with bariatric patients.
POD also has invested on state of the art, European and Japanese designed and manufactured portable dental equipment for addressing dental emergencies in remote and rural locations, schools, aged care facilities, and hospitals.
