We are three High School students with a drive to change the world. Just over three months ago, we formed a group and began planning this project.
At our school, the humanities department decided to try a new program this semester, which we like to call the “Humanities Block”. During two consecutive hours, we work towards earning credits for two humanities courses of our choice.
We work towards one large project to present in a public showcase at the end of our semester, while also completing a few outside assignments for each course to help us meet the required outcomes. We engage in private one-on-one meetings with our teachers, as well as group meetings to help us reflect on the work we have done and set goals to complete before our next meeting. The Humanities Block has given us opportunities like no other.
The Humanities Block started as an idea that turned into a class, which allows students to get 2 or more credits for courses.
A huge thank you goes out to everyone who helped with the production of our first issue of Unfiltered!
As authors of this magazine, we are always looking for topics to focus on in our future publications. We want your voice to be heard about topics that you want to learn about, educate others on, or topics that are relevant in your life.
Should we continue on the topic of teen mental health? Should we try to tackle another relevant topic in teens, or go bigger with a world issue? Or should we cover a topic relevant in our city or even province?
All good questions, but we can't decide without our viewers intel! So please take the time to leave a comment.
