Nope, but we are in the process of apply for non-profit status! Right now, The Menstrual Mission is a project run out of my apartment and sustained thanks to the generosity of friends, family and community members.
No! No one involved in The Menstrual Mission receives an income or profit. This is entirely volunteer run and all donations of funds go into purchasing more Period Kit supplies.
Unfortunately, no. Since we are not currently a registered non-profit, you can not get any kind of tax deduction for donating. When we acheive non profit staus, donations will be tax deductible, so keep checking our social media and website to learn when we achieve this!
None! The Menstrual Mission is an independent project created & operated solely by me. We are not affiliated with any national organization, non-profit, club or University.
Our 'Period Kits' contain only disposable, single use products. These are donated to organizations such as homeless shelters, soup kitchens and food pantries. These go to those living in shelters, on the streets or in unreliable, low-income housing. In these living situations, there is no guarantee that people will have access to clean & running water, a washing machine, soap and laundry detergent, a drier and other resources necessary to sanitize reusable products. Without proper and frequent sanitization of menstrual cups and reusable pads, they can pose serious health risks, which The Menstrual Mission is trying to avoid. This is why the Kits for these donation sites only contain disposable products.
Our re-usable products are donated in their original, sealed packaging - separate from a Period Kits. These products currently go only to Universities, where the products are donated to students, staff or faculty. Since these people are frequently on a college campus, it is more likely for them to have access to running water, soap, washing machines, and other resources that allow them to clean and safely reuse the products.
