“Let the machines learn more and more, after all it is not just the speed that matters but the ability to learn and decide so as to execute like us. That will be the time when we can really compare ourselves with them”

Growing up wondering how computers are faster than us but still can’t take decisions on their own, I was fascinated to see my own quote become true in the last decade. Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence have come a long way since the 1960s when the first perceptron was invented for image recognition to today where it has become ubiquitous, from the applications in our mobile phones to the massive space missions. The tremendous growth in this field has led to the emergence and reinvigoration of many fields like Brain-machine Interfaces, User behavior analytics, and Robot locomotion. With such intriguing new possibilities coming up every day, I want to be on the frontier of this ever-growing domain and believe my exposure to its various sub-domains through my undergraduate and graduate curriculum, projects and internships, and work have prepared me for pursuing this path.
