Paper Proposals

The organisers welcome individual paper proposals dealing with any aspect of

      • Old and Middle English language and literature,
      • the medieval history of the British Isles,
      • the transmission of their cultural legacy, and
      • the theories and methods to address them.

New readings or perspectives on medieval English texts will be particularly welcome, as well as the identification of problems pertaining to their study and the theories and methods proposed to solve them.

Submissions

Send your proposal via e-mail to selim31@uva.es.

The final deadline for submissions, Tuesday 30 April 2019, has been extended to Friday 10 May 2019.

Proposals will be evaluated blind by two members of an international committee of experts. By 31 May, you will be notified if your proposal has been accepted.

Please note:

    1. The title and abstract of proposals should be submitted as an attachment, preferably in PDF format.
    2. Abstracts should not exceed 250 words, references included, and be introduced by the title of paper, the name of the author(s), affiliation, as well as e-mail address.
    3. Papers must be no longer than 20 minutes, normally about 2,500 words in total. Following approval, they will be allocated to an appropriate panel session, usually of three, but occasionally four papers, with a moderator. Delivery will be followed by 10 minutes for questions and group discussion.
    4. English is the official language of the conference. Though paper proposals in Spanish are welcome, their eventual inclusion in the conference programme will be conditioned by the number of qualitative proposals received in that language that can be fit in a coherent panel.
    5. All rooms will have data projection. At the foot of your abstract, please indicate whether you will need any other technical equipment.

Volume of contributions

This international conference will culminate with an edited volume of selected essays contributed by conference participants.

Enquiries should be addressed to the Conference Organising Committee at selim31@uva.es.

We look forward to welcoming you to Valladolid.
