We are always looking for motivated students who are interested in projects that are related to quantum information and quantum computation with superconducting circuits as well as exploring exotic quantum phenomena in these devices. For those interested in material science research, there are also allied projects which involve improving the quality of the samples and studying the decoherence mechanisms in these nanoscale devices.
The work involves micro and nanofabrication of the circuits on a silicon or sapphire substrate, followed by packaging and mounting the sample on the cold stage of a cryogenic dilution refrigerator. The sample is then probed using microwave signals which are analysed using standard RF electronics to resolve the dynamics of the system. Therefore it is highly interdisciplinary work involving skills in different fields. Interested students may contact Baladitya Suri directly at <SURIB AT IISC DOT AC DOT IN>.
