The Norfolk County Association of Trades Union Councils is made up of the Trade Union Congress (TUC) registered trades union councils in Norfolk. The association is independent of the TUC, however it has links with the TUC and sends delegates to the TUC regional council. The regional council for this area is the Southern and Eastern Regional TUC, known by its acronym SERTUC.
The objects of the association are;
a) Liaise on matters of joint concern with the Regional Council of the Trades Union Congress, and act as its representative body in Norfolk, helping to publicise and administer regional and national Trades Union Congress policy;
b) Act as an electoral body for Trades Union Councils’ representatives on the Southern & Eastern Regional Council of the Trades Union Congress;
c) Promote the effective working of Trades Union Councils in Norfolk, and to coordinate their activities, particularly by making representations to Norfolk County Council and to other bodies at county level about matters of concern common to Trades Union Councils in Norfolk;
d) Assist Trades Union Councils to fulfil their own Objects; and
e) Assist, in conjunction with the Trades Union Councils’ Joint Consultative Committee, the development of Trades Union Councils in Norfolk, helping them to obtain affiliations on full membership from all trades unions in their areas and promoting the establishment of new Trades Union Councils in particular local authority areas where none currently exist.
The association holds its Annual General Meeting in January. It meets on a Monday evening three to four time each year.
