CA Native Plant Society. The best organization to learn about native plants is CNPS.
Our local chapter is the Northern San Joaquin Valley CA Native Plant Society. The North San Joaquin Valley Chapter represents Merced, Stanislaus, and South San Joaquin Counties.
All are welcome to join in activities. We hold monthly meetings to discuss native plants and host guest speakers. We take field trips to visit interesting native plant habitats in our area. We also host a bi-annual native plant sale at the Great Valley Museum in Modesto.
CA Native Grasslands Association. This organization is helpful in identifying grass species.
California grasslands are among the most endangered ecosystems in the United States. Birds and insects that rely on grasslands are among the fastest declining species in North America. Join us in protecting this valuable habitat.
California Invasive Plant Council (Cal-IPC): Information regarding California invasive plants and their management
California Society for Ecological Restoration (SERCAL): Information on recovering damaged ecosystems. They put on conferences, symposia, workshops, and field trips
Master Gardeners: Volunteers who provide University of California approved horticulture information to the home gardeners
