water
sunlight
a small mirror(pocket mirror)
Instructions:
Fill the glass half way with water
place the mirror inside of the glass at an angle
position the glass so that the sunlight directly hits the mirror
lastly look for the rainbow reflection on a wall, it might be easier to see if the room is dark!
Rainbows are made through the reflection and bending of sunlight, which happens through water droplets. This is why you see a rainbow when it rains! In the experiment above the sunlight traveled through the water and hit the mirror which bent and reflected the sunlight, this is why we saw a rainbow on the wall!
