Above is the production calendar for The Weird Sisters, a 10-minute, student-directed, devised theatre piece. This piece was directed by a senior acting major as part of their curriculum at the Conservatory of Theatre Arts at Webster University. As the stage manager, I joined the rehearsal process for tech rehearsals, two days before the performance, where I worked closely with the director to learn the show and what their vision for the production was. During the shows, I called lighting, sound, and projections cues.
This is the script for The Weird Sisters, which was written by Eleanor O'Meara (director), Sarah Dao (cast), Marissa Spahn (cast), and Amara Webb (cast). The script was developed throughout the rehearsal process and continued to be tweaked during tech, so using a Google Document was the best way to make sure that the script was always up to date. For the performance, I printed out the final version of the script and added my cues and cue numbers in the margins. This gave me experience working a small, event-style devised theatre piece with a changing script. I learned a lot about using a cue calling system that was quick and easy for me to understand. Many of the cues came in rapid succession, so I also learned a lot about how to shorten my cue calling, as well as how to be flexible and adaptable to the director's vision, even if it changes frequently.
