How to Learn Cantonese
ONLINE SELF-study COURSE
Cantonese Tones
Some exercises to help me (and possibly you) get better at hearing the different tones in Cantonese. This is using a six tone system. High falling has a falling accent (sì), high rising has a rising accent (sí), mid level has no accent (si)... low falling has a falling accent and an 'h' (sìh), low rising has a rising accent and an 'h' (síh), low level has no accent and an 'h' (sih). I've also included the Yale and Jyutping romanisations.

375 Most Common Cantonese Words
A frequency list of words in Hong Kong Cantonese. You can learn the English translations and the Jyutping pronunciation. Please note, in the first ~3 levels, there are a large number of particles whose meanings are difficult to convey on Memrise, but I have included them in order to learn the pronunciations.
A Lesson Cantonese (with audio)
In this course, you will learn basic words in Cantonese. If you have a question, ask it in the course forum. Contributor of this course: puffino, KentP. Suggestions: learn ONLY to speak --> "Jyutping". No experience with any Chinese language and want to read and speak --> "character" and "pronunciation". Know other dialects --> "pronunciation". This is just suggestion for those who want advice on how to use this course.
Cantonese: First 400 words (with Audio)
"I found a list of the most useful 400 words to learn first in any language from towerofbabelfish.com, so I translated it into cantonese. Each level has 3 parts. A: meaning of sound, B: meaning of character, C: sound of character. I've used Yale romanisation. If you don't want to learn the characters yet, just skip the B and C levels." (https://community.memrise.com/t/895; contributors note: added missing audio and also some clearer files)
Cantonese
This is a course for conversational Cantonese words. This means that while there is a lot of everyday vocab in here, you most likely won't be able to understand newscasters when they speak. This is simply due to the fact that Cantonese involves a lot of slang—slang that newscasters can't use on TV. It should also be noted that Cantonese speakers use traditional characters, so if you've learnt Mandarin before, some characters may look a bit different to you.
