Dr. P. Uma Sathyakam is working as Associate Professor in School of Electrical Engineering, Vellore Institute of Technology, Vellore. Earlier he was an Assistant Professor till 2022 at VIT from where he did his MS (by Research) in Microelectronics and VLSI in 2011 and his PhD in Microelectronics in 2018. He served as a Research Fellow in a MHRD sponsored project on 'Development of online Lab in Microelectronics and VLSI' at VIT from 2009 to 2010.
He is also the founder of a healthcare startup named Tresensotech PVT. LTD. and a mentor for Satayush Jeevanam Healthcare India PVT. LTD.
He has authored more than 45 papers published in peer reviewed journals and conference proceedings and also written/edited 4 books and 4 book chapters. He is currently serving as a Associate Editor for Nanotechnology for Environmental Engineering, a Springer Nature journal.
He is also a peer reviewer for many journals. He has reviewed more than 110 papers till date for journals from major publishing houses like IEEE, Springer, Nature, ACS, ECS, Wiley, Elsiever, etc.
His current research interests are:
2D materials for Nanoelectrodes for batteries and supercapacitors, hydrogen evolution, green synthesis
Electronic Packaging: TSVs, interconnects, GNR, CNT and Cu-CNT composites, thermal engineering in ICs, electromigration and Joule heating effects, reliability of interconnects, low-k dielectrics
2D materials electronics and sensors: healthcare sensors, invasive and non invasive sensing, plasmonic sensors.
Passive radiative cooling technologies for advanced green building design
He is currently guiding seven PhD scholars working on VLSI interconnects, supercapacitors, energy storage devices, hydrogen evolution, sensors and radiative cooling technologies.
He is a Senior Member of IEEE EDS/EPS and a Life Fellow of IETE.
