Lesson Plan Submission Policy

Attention Teachers:

Effective Monday, March 5, 2018 there will be a new policy surrounding the submission of lesson plans. As you know, lesson plans are a requirement of our sponsor. As such, we must ensure that all teachers are submitting completed lesson plans on time.

  • All lesson plans are to be submitted in Google Classroom.
  • If you teach a course that has content standards, you MUST include them in your lesson plan.
  • All weekly lesson plans and blended learning less on plans are due each Monday by 3:15pm.
    • If a teacher is absent on Monday, the lesson plan(s) needs to be submitted by 3:15pm on the day the teacher returns to work.
    • If there is no school on Monday, the lesson plan(s) are to be submitted on the first day that school is in session for that week by 3:15pm.
    • If there is a special circumstance where a lesson plan is not required (e.g. standardized testing prevents blended learning at satellites, a field trip overlaps with scheduled instructional time, etc.), the teacher is still responsible for submitting a lesson plan template with a brief explanation as to why no lesson plan is required.
  • If you are a teacher that would prefer to go above and beyond the minimum requirements of completing weekly lesson plans, and opt to complete daily lesson plans, follow the procedures listed below:
    • Inform Ms. Miller that you wish to submit daily lesson plans (rather than a weekly lesson plan).
    • Each daily lesson plan must be submitted by 9:00am. For example, Wednesday's lesson plan must be submitted by Wednesday morning at 9:00am.

If a teacher does not submit a lesson plan on time OR submits an incomplete lesson plan, the following actions will occur:

    • On the first offense, the teacher will be issued a written warning in email form. The warning will explain that if there is another late or incomplete lesson plan submitted, the teacher will be placed on a corrective action plan for a probationary time period. The email will outline the issue(s) that occurred with lesson plan development and information on how to ensure the error does not reoccur. If necessary, the teacher will be offered additional professional support and guidance.
    • On the second offense, the teacher will be notified in email that they must attend a mandatory meeting with Ms. Miller. During the meeting, the teacher and Ms. Miller will debrief on the issues pertaining to lesson plan development. The teacher will sign a document indicating that he/she is being placed on a corrective action plan for a probationary period to improve. If necessary, a clear plan for professional support will be outlined and documented.
    • On the third offense, the teacher will have a mandatory meeting with Mr. Davenport to discuss their employment.

Agenda & Learning Target Policy

Attention Teachers:

Effective Wednesday, April 25, 2018 there will be a new policy surrounding the printing and posting of lesson plans and learning targets (or learning goals). This is a mandate of Mr. Davenport and our sponsors and must be adhered to by all staff that teach classes:

  • Teachers will continue to submit lesson plans in Google Classroom (refer to the policy on the left side of this page).
  • Teachers will post the agenda for the day's lesson AND the learning targets for the day's lesson for bells so that they may be viewable by ALL students in the classroom at ALL times during the bell. Teachers need to use the easel provided by the school for this purpose.
    • The agenda & learning targets must be posted for all classes excluding fitness classes and credit recovery classes.
      • The learning targets should be written in student-friendly language. It should be assumed that if a student read the learning target, they would have a specific understanding of what they are expected to learn in class that day.
      • The agenda and the learning targets must be updated DAILY to reflect what is occurring in class.
      • Most importantly, the agenda and learning targets MUST MATCH what has been submitted in your weekly lesson plan.
