A team is only as strong as its leaders. The Caroline Orcas are fortunate to have two excellent coaches teaching our swimmers the fundamentals of the sport while also inspiring them to achieve their fullest potential.
Tatiana Stoeckel - Head Coach
Coach Tati began coaching with the first season of the Caroline Orcas in 2016. Under Coach Tati’s direction, the Orcas have grown from 45 swimmers in 2016 to 75 swimmers in 2017 to potentially 100+ swimmers in 2018. Coach Tati was featured in the Caroline Progress in 2016 and the Free Lance Star in 2017, discussing competitive swimming in Caroline County and how inclusive the Orcas are with children with special needs.
Tatiana grew up in Woodbridge, VA where she began swimming for her PWSL summer team at the age of 4. By the age of 7 she was swimming year round and setting records that are still around today. From ages 9 through 15 she competed in the Junior Olympics for USA swim team OCCS. While swimming on her high school team, she was asked to assist coaching the local Special Olympics swim team. While at JMU she enjoyed playing club water polo. When approached in 2016 about the Orcas, she found her knowledge and her passion aligned when she coaches swimming. She is determined to help every new swimmer who joins the Orcas to continue developing and loving this sport and community. She is a loud coach with a big heart.
Dana Campbell - Assistant Coach
Dana Campbell is a father of three from Stafford, VA. As a child and young adult, he swam competitively for the Aquia Harbor Dolphins, excelling in the strokes of freestyle and butterfly. When he wasn’t at the pool, you could find him on the ball field pursuing his passion for baseball. Dana is excited to join the Orcas this year as an assistant coach.
Haley Lowery - Assistant Coach
Haley Lowery has 10 years of competitive swimming experience. She is also a certified YMCA swim lesson instructor and helps coach for the year-round Krakens.
She graduated from Iowa State University and then earned a Master's Degree in military intelligence from the Institute of World Politics in Washington, DC. She currently works for Union Bank and Trust on their cyber security team.
Gabby Perez - Assistant Coach
Gabby has high school swim team experience, has been a certified swim instructor and lifeguard for the YMCA for 3 years and swam on the inaugural Orcas team.
