The First Tech Challenge (FTC) is an organization that hosts a nationwide robotics tournament. Teams are made of anywhere between 2-20 kids ranging from grades 7-12. The season usually runs from early August to late April. FTC's goal is to teach major STEM concepts and gracious professionalism to the participants as well as the public. Gracious professionalism encourages high-quality work, emphasizes the value of others, and respects individuals and the community. The teams generally engineer a robot, program the robot to do various tasks/missions, write an engineering notebook that describes their journey, and conduct outreach programs to teach children and young adults in the community about FTC, robotics, STEM, and teamwork skills.
