Protocol for Admission into the Honors Math Program:
Protocol for Admission into the Honors Math Program:
- Cognitive Skills Index (CSI) of 125 (falling in the range) in the InView Ability Test
- Standardized Test Scores
- Consistent score of 90 or above in math
- Consistent score of 80 or above in reading
- >70 in all areas of math in the Objective Skills Index
- Final grades in math
- From Grade 3 entering the program in Grade 4: VG or O
- From Grade 4 entering the program in Grade 5: 93 or above
- Final grade in reading: 85 or above
- Effort grade - 4
Expectations
Expectations
- Satisfactory classroom participation and performance
- Student effort as indicated by the quality of his/her work
- Being proactive in his/her own learning
- studying math every day, spending time reading and thinking about the material
- regularly returning to past material so as not to forget the basics
- working ahead on long-term assignments (maintenance)
- asking questions
- sharing strategies
- using mistakes as a bridge to learning - identify flaws in your thinking in order to make necessary adjustments
As this is an Honors Level course, student effort and drive should satisfy teacher expectations.
Students have earned their position in Honors Math and should work hard to maintain the right to be part of the program.
