About Mrs. Tomkins

My name is Jill Tomkins and I am a happy to be a kindergarten teacher at Santa Margarita Elementary School. I am originally from Oceanside and come from a family of educators. I received my Bachelor of Arts from Chico State University in 2000 and a multiple subject credential from California State University, San Marcos in 2001.

I began my teaching career in 2001 in Oceanside, where I taught a 4/5-combination class at Pacifica Elementary. I taught 5th grade for five years at Nichols Elementary and 4th grade for one year. The world was calling and I moved to Beijing, China, where I taught 4th grade at the International School of Beijing from 2007 – 2009. I moved back to San Diego and taught 4th grade at Del Mar Pines School, a small private school in Del Mar, California from 2009 - 2012. This is my 6th year at Santa Margarita and I am thrilled to be back in the Oceanside Unified School District, teaching where I was born and raised!

My husband Mike and I have a 2 old daughter, Addy and a 5 month old, Emily. We also have a pound mutt named Ollie and a rescue kitty, Willy. Outside the classroom, I enjoy spending time with my family, reading, camping, cooking, bike rides, walking and running, shopping, and traveling.
