"As someone with dyslexia and ADHD, I have always felt ashamed that I am not more neurotypical, that it is hard for me to conform to the expectations of school, and it can be difficult for me to do things that other people find easy. I suppose I felt I was obligated to compensate through grueling hard work, to assimilate to an expectation of perfection born from a sense of normality... For the majority of my time at Proctor, I was ingrained in the first half of our motto, only living to learn…although it feels hypocritical for me to express this sentiment, I believe that each of you should not conform to the expectations of others. Hold on to your individuality."
