Princeville’s football team has had an excellent year so far. But this year hasn’t been all about football for some of the senior players. While they have been making an impact on the field, they have also been making an impact in the classroom.
Several of the players, including Jack Arnett, Adam Snedden, Justin Janssen, and Matthew Butterfield, are teachers’ assistants at Princeville Grade School (PGS) and Princeville Junior High School. (PJHS)
The students and teachers all seem to enjoy the time the boys spend at PJHS and PGS. When Mrs. Bauman was asked about how her students interact with Justin she said, “He is an excellent role model.” She also told a story of a time when several kids were struggling to understand integers. Justin used his football experience to relate the problem to the gain and loss of yards in a game.
“Justin has talked specifically to a few students about their desire to play in high school and how important it is to work hard in school so they can play, too,” said Bauman.
As the Princes continue to draw the community’s attention on the field, these football players are using their influence to act as role models for younger kids, teaching them to work as a team and persevere towards their goals.
