Alumnus Returns as Math Teacher to Teach the Next Generation
By Kevin Johnson
Barbara Kratzer is one of PJSHS’s five math teachers, but she is one of a kind. Her love for teaching has brightened our school for the past 23 years, and she is set on teaching for at least a few more. She told us that her favorite part of teaching is “Seeing the light bulb go on when a student finally gets a concept in which they have been struggling to understand.” As a past student of hers, I can say with confidence that she has a passion for her job and her students. She will reach out to anyone in need and will help others to the best of her ability, as she loves “seeing students learn and grow academically.” Mrs. Kratzer met her husband in the halls of PHS, and they celebrated their 26th anniversary 15 days ago on the 11th. She and her husband have had two children: Judson and Sydney. She has multiple degrees from multiple colleges as well. She graduated from North Illinois University for psychology in 1996, Illinois State University for education in 1998, and Bradley University for school counseling in 2011. In her free time, she enjoys being outside, golfing, and baking. We are happy to shine a light on Mrs. Kratzer for this edition’s Staff Spotlight, and appreciate her effort here at PJSHS greatly!
