There is a new face in the hallways of Princeville Jr/Sr High School. Heather Lied is the new librarian at the junior/senior high. She got her degree for childhood education, but decided to stay home to be with her children. When there was an opening in the library she thought it would be “a nice change of pace” to be working with older kids. She also thought that she could be more involved in her childrens’ lives.
Lied is still learning about what the student body needs in terms of literature. She has not started any new programs, but has some ideas for the future. She has redecorated the library to include a table of some high interest books at the front. Lied is also celebrating banned book month by posting flyers around the school advertising books as “missing” that have been known for being banned in the past.
When asked about her favorite parts of working here, she said, “It's fun to explore new literature and literature I was not exposed to before . . . I love to be able to help students find books that they will enjoy and in turn love to hear if they enjoyed the book or learn why they didn't.”
I for one am very excited to see what Mrs. Lied has in store for the library, and wish her luck as she decides where to take the Princeville Junior/Senior library in the future. Stop by and say hello to our brand new librarian!
