New front entrance
Construction began late last summer on the front entrance of the grade school in order to create a more secured entrance into the school for all visitors entering the building. Final touches are currently in the works to complete the project, which was paid through IDEA grant funds. The updated entrance includes a secured vestibule, an upgraded video monitoring system, and automatic door openers. Not only will PGS be more secure, but for those utilizing wheelchairs, the building will be much more accessible.
PTO Fall Fundraiser
We just wrapped up our PTO Fall fundraiser for this year. The PTO assists and supports grades Prek through 8th grade by volunteering their time to plan and implement special activities throughout the year and by providing financial assistance toward classroom and school wish lists.
This year’s fundraiser “Step It Up” was based solely on accepting donations. With school restrictions on handling items and keeping our students as safe as possible, we decided that this fundraiser would help eliminate the door to door selling of items.
Some of the prizes students earned included a High 5 phone holder, monster hat and a glow in the dark squish ball. One iPad was given away and 4 mini fridges with $25.00 inside each one. Students who collected certain levels of donations will receive additional prizes as well.
This year’s fundraiser was a successful one. We would like to thank the parents, community, families and friends who donated toward this campaign. Your donations will be used to add new playground activities and painted games to the upcoming newly resurfaced blacktop at the grade school, to create incentives and opportunities for students, to advance technologies and support our Character Counts program. Thank you also to the PTO officers and members for their volunteer service to organize these initiatives to fund and support these additional resources!
