November marks the midway point of the fall season, but more importantly signals time for the annual PHS Musical, put on by our very own students. This year’s musical was “The Sound of Music,” and the show played in the PJHS gymnasium on Thursday, Nov. 4th and Friday, Nov. 5th. A preview of the production was also offered on Thursday afternoon for grades 3-8 students and staff, as well as a senior citizen matinee and preview for K-2 on Friday afternoon.
Director, Mr. Chris Delbridge, and all of the students participating worked very hard to make this musical work, despite the lingering Covid-19 restrictions. All rehearsals and performances were done fully masked to ensure everyone’s safety. It may have been a struggle, but the final performances were well worth it.
Any and all high school students were welcomed to try out for the musical, and this year some lucky PGS and PJHS students were welcomed into the cast as well. We talked to Brianna Olshawsky, a senior, who has done the musical every year she was able to. She says her favorite part of the experience is “Seeing the community come together to watch the final production.” Olshawsky’s advice for incoming highschoolers is, “Step out of your comfort zones and try out for the musical!”
