The boys’ basketball team has started their year off successfully so far with a record of 14-6 and 11 games remaining. The Princeville Princes main rebounder during the regular season has been senior Justin Janssen with an average of 7.2 rebounds per game. Janssen also is the Prince's best scorer from the paint. He is able to make an average of 10.1 points for each game.
Another key player for the Princes is sophomore Joey Smith, their main three point shooter, with an average of 10 points per game and an accuracy of 38% from the field.
Some of their toughest opponents in their sub-sectional will be Wethersfield, Roanoke Benson, and Ottawa Marquette. Weathersfield and Roanoke are sure to put up a fight against Princeville after defeating the Princes previously in close games in the regular season. According to Kratzer, “post season play [is] all about surviving and advancing.”
It will more than likely be close games for the Princes during the regionals and sectionals, but they are hoping to come out on top. Regionals begin the week of February 22nd.
