Meet Ms. Crose! She has been teaching at Princeville Schools for 2 years as our ELL (English Language Learner) coordinator and teacher. She attended Eureka College and studied elementary education with plans of becoming an ELL instructor. ELL is teaching English as a second language for students who have a first language other than English. “Most of the students I work with are Spanish speaking students. I also get to work with the migrants and their families. So translation for families falls under my job description as well.”
Ms. Crose teaches English through the four domains of: listening, reading, speaking, and writing. At the grade school level, according to Crose, learning happens all the time. “You can be having a conversation with a kid and it's still learning because you’re speaking English,” she says. She plays games that are English based such as scavenger hunts, vocabulary games, and more to help students understand the language. “One thing I wanted to say is that I just really love my students and their families and I think it's so cool that we have this little bit of diversity in Princeville like cultural and linguistic diversity. I just think that's awesome and hope people appreciate that.”
