Things are a bit different at the Junior High this year. Mrs. Jamie Huber has taken over for Mr. Erik Givens as the 8th grade science teacher. You may recognize her as the 5th grade math teacher. She was asked to switch as she was one of the only ones with the right credentials for teaching this position.
As you can imagine, there are some differences between 5th and 8th grade. Mrs. Huber says that she likes letting her older kids work by themselves, putting their creativity and independence to use. She has really made the curriculum her own, working in ideas from online and incorporating some of what she used in 5th grade. She specifically mentioned a website called Generation Genius. It has videos for many grade levels, so she has brought it to 8th grade. Mrs. Huber thanks the Jr High staff for making the transition easier.
As Mrs. Huber settles into her new role, she is also balancing being a mother. She has three children, one of whom is deaf. She likes to go deer hunting and to spend time with her family. She was drawn to teaching after teaching swim lessons. Watching kids progress and learn was something special, so she decided to teach. The Princeville schools are very happy she did.
