On July 15-19, the Princeville High School volleyball teams hosted their very first summer volleyball camp as a fundraiser for the program.
The camp, designed to give young athletes an opportunity to learn new skills, was offered to all second through eighth grade Princeville students, but was open to students outside of the district as well.
Participants were required to pay a registration fee of $60 for the five day camp, which also included a t-shirt. All proceeds went toward the PHS volleyball program.
Split up into two sessions, second through fifth grade students occupied the first half of the day, followed by sixth through eighth graders.
Throughout the week, campers learned and practiced proper techniques for passing, setting, and hitting.
Event organizers, Varsity Coach, Charissa Ouart, Junior Varsity Coach, Anna Schupbach, and Freshmen Coach, Alyssa Dial, coordinated various activities and drills to help further the girls’ volleyball skills.
The athletes were split into groups by grade level to complete drills that targeted a specific skill. They also worked on game play and scrimmaged against each other.
Members of all three PHS volleyball teams were present to help run drills and mentor the younger athletes.
The camp proved to be a success, with a total of $1500 raised for the PHS Volleyball Program.
Players and coaches look forward to putting the money towards new uniforms for the 2019 season.
