It is our mission to identify and consider cataloging issues, to make recommendations, to provide training and support via workshops and online documents, and to cooperate with other institutions and bodies on matters related to descriptive cataloging and subject cataloging, classification, and content designation of materials from and about the Middle East.

ARABIC NACO MANUAL PUBLISHED (REVISED VERSION)
The revised version of Arabic NACO Manual has been posted. The manual has been enhanced with detailed instructions, information on best practices, and many examples. Many thanks to Denise Soufi from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and Shelton Henderson from the University of Pennsylvania for their hard work and help in revising the Manual.

“Cataloging Middle Eastern Streaming Media Using RDA and MARC21”
02 November (Wednesday): 1:00– 2:30 p.m. ET / 10:00-11:30a.m. PT.
The Committee on Cataloging is pleased to invite you to join us at our workshop series. The second workshop will cover an introduction to cataloging streaming media, using RDA standards and the MARC21 format. The workshop focuses on challenges and different aspects of streaming video and audio, filmed and recorded originally in languages spoken in the Middle East. It is recommended that attendees have a basic knowledge of cataloging using the MARC21 format.
Presenter: Cyrus F. Zarganj, Special Formats Librarian/Associate Professor, University of Nevada, Las Vegas Libraries. Cyrus has worked in cataloging, media, and technical services for 20 years. He performs original descriptive, and subject cataloging for all special formats materials. He also provides training and mentoring to junior catalogers and assists in resolving complex special format cataloging problems.
