I have over ten years of experience with teaching and facilitation, including six years in an academic context. I aim to create safe spaces for students to find their voice, and to remove the fear and anxiety that comes with having to critique complex material and express an opinion in front of their peers. I recognize the value that the students’ diverse backgrounds and experiences bring to the table, and the most rewarding moments for me are when I see students end the semester with an insight into how their participation enriched group discussions. My teaching is grounded in the values of tolerance and respect, and most importantly, intellectual integrity—an acknowledgment of the gaps in our understanding and the willingness to learn from our peers. I truly enjoy how every discussion adds to, and shifts, my own comprehension of material I’m familiar with.
