DT
We have begun our DT project for the half term makign 3D houses inspired by Zaha Hadid and the gingerbread house from our class reader Hansel and Gretel. In our first session we explored different ways of joining straws together using a range of adhesives.
Reading
Our focus in reading this week was oracy. The children had fun perfuming the poem Instructions for Giants by John Rice, thinking about all the skills we have practised that make a good performance, including pace, volume and presentation.
Art
The children enjoyed our Artist of the Half term study- Ranjit Bhamra, learning about his life and the challenges he overcame. This children were fascinated by the way he produced his art and they had a go at recreating one of his pieces.
British Science Week 2026
Sparking our curiosity with our 'wonderwall' in class. Children were asked to write a question about the world they would like to find out. They then thought of a scientific question they could ask linking to the topics were explore in Years 3 and 4!
The children also loved completing experiments this week inspired by our Monday Live Lesson. They used strips of paper to make circles of various diameter the act as different sized backbones. They then tested the strength of the backbones by adding books on top!
