Job Profile:

An associate’s job at Prime is to look for missionary founders solving significant problems. You need to be passionate about startup ideas and entrepreneurs who want to change the world. People with a potent mix of insane intellectual curiosity, ninja data skills, and sheer hustle do well. You do not need to have prior investing or finance experience but be a fast learner and a problem solver.


An associate will work at all stages of the investment process: sourcing great founders and companies, due diligence & evaluation, and post-investment activities. The role requires versatility and the ability to prioritize. You will be playing with products, talking to customers, doing secondary research on the internet, poring through data, hanging out at many coffee shops and entrepreneurial hotbeds. We are a small, focussed, and intense investment team, so you will be collaborating and challenging your colleagues to seek the truth collectively. You need to have the courage of your conviction and also the humility to keep learning and evolving.


What do the day to day responsibilities look like?

In a given year, we look at 2000+ startups from different sectors and finally invest in 6-8 of them. And all of this is done by a team of less than half a dozen folks, including the partners. So while the role is challenging, it is equally satisfying and rewarding as you get to view, invest in and be a part of India's growth story driven by a thriving startup ecosystem.


  • Build a strong deal sourcing pipeline by hanging out on the internet, at parties, at conferences, at Startup Weekends – anywhere and everywhere you can unearth a great entrepreneur! So you may get on a plane to travel the country, speak at conferences, have lots of coffees, be shocked and awed as you find and back tomorrow’s rock stars today.

  • Identify and pick emerging technology and market trends and build investment theses that will help identify the next set of investment opportunities.

  • Engage with and screen the breakthrough companies.

  • Perform due diligence on select investment candidates.

  • Work closely with the partners on select portfolio companies.


What are the relevant skills, qualifications, and experience?

  • Outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • “Hustle” with an ability to prioritise and multitask.

  • Passionate about technology, entrepreneurship & startups, and how they can transform people and businesses.

  • 2-5 years of relevant work experience, ideally in operating roles in startups, large internet giants, or venture capital firms.

  • Have a flair for meeting and engaging with new people.

  • Have strong verbal and written communication skills.
