The total development of students is the goal of the educational system. Physical Education is an important part of the total educational program. All students have the need and right to enjoy the benefits of physical activity through a creative and well-rounded physical education program.
The purpose of this course is to enable students to maintain or improve health-related fitness, acquire and demonstrate knowledge of a healthy lifestyle and team/individual sport, grow individual skill sets and develop skills in specified team sports. A variety of activities are incorporated into the physical education program and can vary from creative movement to lifetime sports. These skills range from learning proper offense and defense strategies, sportsmanship, communication and understanding rules and terminology. All the skills and techniques introduced are necessary for an individual and team to be successful in the sport or activity being addressed.

Class Materials: COME PREPARED TO CLASS EVERYDAY!!!
Athletic Clothes (PE Uniform, socks, extra socks incase the grass is wet outside)
Athletic Sneakers (NO sandals, flip-flops, boots, platform or backless tennis shoes will be accepted for participation in activities)
Pencil (Keep in PE locker, I will let you know if you need it)
No Dress Policy per Quarter

5th= Detention
Students are expected to take home their uniform every Friday to be washed.
Bells and times:
Students will dress out in their PE uniform and take a seat on the gym floor for attendance.

Illness/Injury:
Students must bring in a note from their parents if sick/injured. If a student is sick/injured for 1 or more days, a note from a doctor is required.
LOCKER ROOM REQUIREMENTS:
Lockers: Each student in physical education will be required to have a locker in the locker room. The student is responsible for the lock staying on his/her locker when not in P.E. class.
Physical education teachers will NOT be responsible for missing items left unattended in the locker room. All books, clothes, jewelry, electronics and other personal items brought to the locker room should be locked up AT ALL TIMES and not left unattended on the bench or floor.
Follow all safety procedures.
No talking when the instructor is talking.
Do not use profane or vulgar language.
Respect others, school property, and equipment.

PE Assignment Policy
We will have assignments to assure everyone understands the rules, skills, and history behind the activity we are doing. Assignments might look like
Pre Tests- Completion Grade (I just want to see what you already know)
Homework Packet- Short reading with response questions
Quizzes- At the end of each unit to check for understanding
Skills Test- Not on paper, I will ask for you to talk me through a skill in the unit
Skills Test- Not on paper, I will ask for you to perform a specific skill in the unit
Absent Packet- only used if a student misses multiple school days in a row
I will add or adjust any assignments as necessary to best fit the entire class.
PE Grading Rubric
Students are graded on a 3 point scale every day and will be recorded as “daily points” in Skyward. The point values are as described below.

Student demonstrates use of strategy during game play while maintaining a high level of intensity.
Student plays with enthusiasm on a regular basis.
Student adheres to rules and helps organize teammates toward a positive common goal.
2 points
Student regularly exerts an effort that is at or above acceptable level.
Student usually adheres to the rules.
Student cooperates with teammates and demonstrates good sportsmanship.
1 point
Student is not engaged in gameplay.
Student seldom exerts effort at the acceptable level.
Student does not adhere to rules.
Student demonstrates poor sportsmanship or teamwork.
