Participation fee of $ 450

There is a participation fee of $450 (which includes the price of a production sweatshirt and tech week meals and snacks). This fee will help to alleviate the need to collect additional theatre funds later in the school year.

Checks should be made payable to Pressman Academy. This is due the 1^st week of rehearsal. Please give checks to Abbey in the school office and she will collect them to give to Ms Erica.

Rehearsals: Wednesdays 3:45 to 5:30 and Fridays 2:45 to 4:30 until daylight savings then rehearsals on Friday will conclude at 4pm.

Tech Week: 3/8, 3/9, 3/11, and 3/13

Tech Week Rehearsal Times: Sunday. 3/8: 11 AM-6 PM, Monday, 3/9: 4-7 PM, Wednesday, 3/11: 4-7 PM, and Friday, 3/13: 10 AM-2 PM

PLEASE NOTE: Although there is no school on 3/13, there will be a rehearsal on this day from 10 AM-2 PM. Sarah Tannenbaum will work with theatre parents to insure that students who are in the musical will not have any conferences scheduled during this time!

Sunday Rehearsals: 12/8, 1/26, and 2/23 from 10 AM-2 PM and 3/8 from 11 AM-6 PM

Performance Dates: 3/15 at 1 PM and 7 PM and 3/16 at 5:30 pm (no school that day due to SLCs which will allow for an earlier showtime!)

Some of these duties don't come up till performance time and some are ongoing.

FUNDRAISING: We are on a very tight budget and putting on theatrical productions is not cheap. Please help us think of and execute innovative ways to raise money and seek donations.

COSTUMES: Shop for and/or help assemble costumes. For this show, we are going to need to make several costumes from scratch! Your purchases are either a tax-deductible donation to the Pressman Theatre Program or you may be reimbursed. We may choose to rent costumes and would love help with the coordination of this.

PROPS: Shop for props or help make props. Your purchases are either a tax-deductible donation to the Pressman Theatre Program or you may be reimbursed.

SETS: Help to coordinate and execute the design and construction of the set.

PROGRAM: Help with lay-out of program.

SET LOAD IN: move and assemble set in performance space early morning on TBD

TECH WEEK MEALS: Since rehearsals go later on the tech rehearsal days, we would like someone to coordinate dinner for the cast and crew.

STRIKE VOLUNTEERS: We will have to clear all costumes, props, and set pieces from the performance space the day after the show closes.

CONCESSIONS FOR PERFORMANCES Purchase and bring in concessions items (specifics will be given to you at a later date). Set up concession table, sell concessions before the performance and during intermission. Clean up

After-school Club Agreement

Pressman Academy believes that Middle School is a time of growth and exploration for pre-teens and teens. We encourage students to explore their strengths and take calculated risks in academic, social and programmatic realms. We believe that Middle School is the time to learn how to balance the rigors of academics with other programs, activities, family obligations, and peer relationships that occur during these years.

Our goal is for students to be able to explore the athletic and/or performing arts realms if they choose to in a way that allows for maximum success. The following are the expectations for participating in the sports league and/or drama productions:

1. Students are expected to keep up with the school work and class work and have their performance indicate that they are indeed grasping material presented in class. Therefore, if at any time a student’s grade in any class falls below a C+ average or a 78%, the student will not be allowed to participate in the play or the team until the grade is raised. For sports, this means the student may have to miss practices and/or games. For drama, this means the student may miss rehearsals. For either sports or drama, this missing of practices or rehearsals may have even further ramification such as missing a game due to missed practices or having a part reassigned.
2. Students who receive more than 3 infractions risk having to miss practices and/or games. For drama, this means the student may also risk missing rehearsals. For either sports or drama, this missing of practices or rehearsals may have even further ramification such as missing a game due to missed practices or having a part reassigned.
3. Play practice and sports games and practices are an extension of the school day. Students who miss school are not allowed to attend play practice or sports practice or game on that day. Additionally, students who do not participate in PE are not allowed to go to practice or a game on that day.
4. There are very specific behavioral expectations for players, coaches and parents. Players who are disrespectful may not be allowed to play in a game. Continued disrespect may result in the player being asked to leave the team. Parents are expected to also model positive behavior at games and afterwards. Parents may not approach the coach during the game. If a parent cannot maintain a positive attitude, a parent may be asked to leave the game. Continued disrespect may result in the parent being asked not to be at games. The final decision regarding team formation lies with the coach.
5. There are very specific behavioral expectations for play participants and parents. Participants who are disrespectful may be asked to leave a rehearsal. Continued disrespect may result in the participant’s part being reassigned.. Parents are expected to also model positive behavior as well. Parents may not approach the the directing staff during rehearsals. The final decision regarding casting lies with the directing staff.
6. It is expected that players attend all practices except if there are pre-established times when the player also has to attend play practice. It is expected that play participants attend all play rehearsals. Attendance will be taken at all rehearsals and practices. If a student has to miss a play practice, games or sports practice, the student must email the director or coach ahead of time and let him or her know the circumstance.
7. In regards to sports if a student is absent from school on game day, then that student will not be able to participate in the game.
