Welcome to 8th grade! You will be presented many opportunities that will challenge you and prepare you for high school and beyond. I am excited to be a part of the team that will get you ready for whatever future adventures your life may hold.
Our work in this class will be rigorous and rewarding, and yes, we will even have fun! Success in this classroom is attainable for all students, and I pledge to do whatever it takes to ensure you are given the opportunity to attain academic success.
Parents/Guardians: My number one goal is your child's success. If we work together, we can make a significant difference in his or her ability to understand and apply language arts skills. Gaining useful English skills will yield genuine self-esteem in your child and build confidence for high achievement in his or her future endeavours.
Students who attain a high level of skill in reading and writing are successful in all curriculums and gain confidence to tenaciously pursue their dreams!
The Mile High Middle School grading policy is as follows:
100%-90% = A
89% to 80% = B
79% to 70% = C
69% to 60% = D
Below 60% = F
(Semester grades are weighted as Quarter 1 or 3 = 45%, Quarter 2 or 4 = 45%, and Final Exam = 10%.)
General Class Expectations:
- Be on time to class.
- Do not interfere in the learning of your classmates.
- Be respectful at all times.
- Use your time wisely.
- Learn to work collaboratively with all classmates.
