THANK YOU for your generous donations of books for our students. Just before winter break, students were excited to be able to take home multiple books.
With winter weather approaching, please review our Family Guide to Distance Learning Days for PIS. While we hope for a mild season, please note that our procedures differ from those at the elementary school. Taking a moment to familiarize yourself with these steps now will help ensure a smooth transition if weather disruptions occur.
As we head into the winter break, we want to express our deepest gratitude for your partnership in our school community and wish you and your loved ones a holiday season filled with immense joy, peace, and togetherness.
We look forward to welcoming everyone back on Monday, January 5!
With gratitude,
Principal Kosmalski

With the beginning of the school year, everyone is adjusting to new routines and we expect some hiccups in arrival times. Now that we have had two full weeks of school to adjust, tardiness has begun to count towards your child’s attendance. At PIS a warning bell rings at 7:50 and students are expected to be at their desks ready for the day by 7:55, the official start to the school day.
I want to take a moment to discuss the importance of punctuality for your child’s success at school. Arriving on time not only sets a positive tone for the day but also helps students fully engage in their learning experience.
Here are a few key reasons why being on time to school is crucial:
Academic Readiness: Late arrivals can disrupt not only your child’s focus but also the entire class. Missing the start of a lesson can lead to gaps in understanding.
Routine and Responsibility: Punctuality fosters a sense of responsibility and helps students develop essential life skills, such as time management.
Social Interaction: Arriving on time allows students to connect with their peers before class, fostering friendships and a sense of belonging.
Respect for Others: Being on time shows respect for teachers and classmates, contributing to a positive classroom environment.
I appreciate your support in having your child arrive at school with enough time to be ready for learning and at the desks when the school day starts at 7:55. Together, we can help them make the most of their educational experience.

The safety of our students is very important in every decision we make including making weather-related closings. As these decisions are made we will make every effort to notify families and staff as soon as we are able to confirm the conditions are truly materializing and not just speculation. Please review all the things that are considered with winter weather closings.
