Before I started my internship I listed some goals that I wanted to accomplish throughout this semester:

1. Learn what kinds of messages reach an audience more effectively

2. Gain an understanding of the different opportunities within marketing and communication

3. Gain more experience with software and technology related to media communication

Throughout the semester I have made short videos for the different athletic teams at Presbyterian College to post on Instagram and twitter. I have made mystories before games or important happenings, and I have helped some people to edit and film videos.

Have I accomplished my goals?

After my first semester as an intern, I will say that I have accomplished my goals.

1. Learn what kinds of messages reach an audience more effectively:

• "I have learned that people do not care as much as you think they do. Posting a long video is not as effective as a shorter one. Losing the audience's attention is very easy, and you have to make the content as short and good as possible. I always click out of videos that are long and boring, and I am not at the level where I can keep an audience for a long time, yet. That is my future goal."

2. Gain an understanding of the different opportunities within marketing and communication:

• "I have realized how wide the media is and how much you can do and still put it under the same word. I made this goal because I remember I did not know what I wanted to do within media. I still do not know specifically what I want to do, but at the same time, I have a better idea. If I say yes to things I want and no to things I do not, my decisions are going to lead me in the right direction. As I see it right now, I want to use media as a tool to help me to get sponsors along with playing good golf, but you never know."

3. Gain more experience with software and technology related to media communication:

• "I have gained more experience with Adobe Premiere Pro. This is a video editing program that I have always wanted to get but I did not see the point of getting it when I was not making that many videos. Now that I am regularly making videos I always learn new things and I see opportunities to make them better each time. The software was a lot harder to get used to then I was expecting in the beginning, and I had to watch a lot of videos to understand how to do stuff. I was using iMovie before, which is an easy and a simple editing program, but I hated that I did not have that many opportunities. Now I have plenty of opportunities with the new program, but I still make the same type of videos that I easily could have done by using iMovie. My next step is now to learn all the tricks in Adobe Premiere Pro to be able to make videos with better quality. "
