POSITION PAPER GUIDELINES:

Position papers should be no longer than two typed pages including suitable sources. All formatting should follow APA 7 norms, including in-text references (not only at the end of the main body of text). The header should include the following features illustrated below. While not strictly necessary, the delegation's flag at the top-right corner does help chairs and moderators identify papers more quickly.

For PAQ MUN, the following structure is advised: - A brief introduction as to why the problem is indeed a problem; a positioning section which relates the delegation to the problem (or why it is not directly or unduly affected); a panorama of current protagonists/antagonists and actions being taken, with or without success; and finally, proposals for the committee to consider.

Remember that a position paper is, first and foremost, a speech and not an essay - reflect on how best to summarize information to make each delegation's impact greater and more relatable during the opening sessions. You may bring as much additional information as you desire on printed pages which do not count towards the position paper page limit. It is, however, prohibited to bring prewritten draft resolution papers as this undermines the intention to debate and interact with other delegations.
