ABOUT THE GARDEN
With help from Seed St. Louis, some dedicated teachers and amazing family volunteers, the PCS garden was installed in spring of 2019. The garden idea began with a desire to encourage more outdoor learning experiences for students in an urban area. We wanted to provide a space for children to explore and ask questions about the world. The garden is just the start of our outdoor learning space dreams!
Our garden sits inside a fenced in area between the Early Childhood building and the large field. It holds six 12 foot garden beds, 1 large and 3 small tin garden bins, a compost container, rain water barrel, and a tree stump area under a shaded tree for class gatherings.
Over the last few years, students and teachers have grown various fruits, vegetables, flowers and herbs. There have been so many opportunities to experience joy, hard work, dedication and learning and we can't wait to continue working to take this space to the next level!
