So much value can be found in owning one garden bed from planting to harvest. Full ownership means that your class/classes are able to make all decisions regarding what is planted and harvested. They will learn how to care for and nurture their plants from start to finish. If you are interested in adopting a garden bed for a minimum of one growing season please make a copy of the application below and share it with your garden representative when complete.
APPLICATION FOR FALL 2023 BED OWNERSHIP NOW OPEN
Once your application has been approved we will reach out to schedule a meeting to discuss the following:
Establish a gardening schedule for your class/classes.
Determine needs to get started (bed prep, seeds, planting seasons, compost, etc.).
Decide which tasks you are taking on and how much help you would like.
Answer any questions you may have for us.
Time to prepare your class! There are several resources available as you begin to get your kids ready to spend time in the garden. There is a basic set of garden norms anyone that uses the garden follows. There are also slides available to stay up to date on what is going on in the garden at any given moment.
Once you've prepared your class it's time to get to work! The garden is reserved for your class during your designated times. Because you have full ownership of a bed no one else that is working in the garden will mess with your bed (unless you have specifically asked for help with certain tasks). A great starting point may be having your students make a weather proof sign to mark which bed is yours as well as plant markers etc. We encourage you to get your students involved in all planning for gardening such as; companion planting, weeding, composting, watering, impact of weather patterns, etc.
