Dr. Benjamin Garstad

Dr. Garstad offers a number of courses that reflect his scholarly interests in late antique literature and historiography, the interpretation of myth and theories of religion in Antiquity and the Middle Ages, and the interplay of polytheist and early Christian discourses. He has published on such topics as Euhemerus and Euhemerism, John Malalas and his sources, the Alexander Romance, the Apocalypse of Pseudo-Methodius, the Excerpta Latina Barbari, Nonnus of Panopolis, and the Alexander Tradition, as well as race and slavery in American history and the fiction of Robert E. Howard.
