A nocturnal person ironically transforms into an actual nocturnal being a bat by accident.
Comedy
Summary:
The Main Character pulls an all nighter, which is implied to be one of many, only to begin their day with a coffee monstrosity which accidently includes one of their witchy roomate's potions. The Main Charcter is too tired to care or notice when the drink turns them into a bat. The main character goes about their morning as usual and leaves the apartment as a bat only to insite screams in the people outide.
In Depth:
The short will start with a time lap showing the main character working at his desk from the time the sun sets through the time it rises. While the main character is still working, not having slept at all, an alarm will go off signiling the start of the day. The main character will leave his room and enter into the kitchen of a shared appartment in order to start his day with a cup of coffee. The main character will blearily make a coffee monstrosity adding coffee, cream, sugar, an energy drink, and other ingredients. In the main character's tired state he accidentally knock a vile labeled roughly "main character's roomates's true self; DON'T TOUCH" into their drink. As the drink starts to glow, the main character pauses before turning to look at a closed door labeled "MAIN CHARACTER'S ROOMATE; KEEP OUT", from which colorful light and the sounds of explosions and cackling leaks into the kitchen. The main character, finished with their consideration of the door, turns back to their mug and too tired to care, drinks the concoction. A pink "poof!" cloud over takes the screen and when it clears it reveals the main character has turned into a bat. The main character gives a full body shake and sticks out their tounge as if the drink is so horrible it causes a physical response, but does not seem to notice the full body change. The main character takes another sip, as he finishes getting ready for the day, grabbing keys, a wallet, and putting in headphones. The camera watches the door ss the main charcter, still a bat, leaves the appartment, only to hear a scream in the hal after the door has closedl. A possible continuation of the story is for as the credits to roll have the backround of the screen be stills of the bat main character combinging bat tendencies with everyday people behavors such as the main character on the subway, but hanging upside down on the hand rails.

Target Audience: young adults, but viewable by all ages
Distribution: My short film would be most at home on online video platforms such as YouTube, instagram, and tiktok, where people go to experience moments of short, brainless fun.
For my asset list a lot of the objects can and will be duplicated in order to create a very cluttered look, which will be most prevalent in the kitchen. The bedroom will have a minimalist style in order to imply that two very different people live there, as well as to show that the main character’s only real focus is their work.

Do you ever feel like you’ve lost yourself so deep into your work, that it seems improbable that you are still human? Admittedly it is such a weird feeling that you can’t help but laugh at the absurdity of it, and when you work as hard as you do it is important to find time to do just that, laugh. That’s why I want to make a story, so absurd, that it causes people to laugh about what might normally be a gray cloud on their day. My short would tell a fictional tale about what a person might become if they sacrifice their life for their work, in this case a bat. It allows the viewer to find humor in the way they live their lives, while also giving a soft reminder to not completely lose yourself in your work, but instead to keep a look out for life’s next adventure.

TNR. BEDROOM - SUNSET
Sitting in front of a window that looks out several stories above the ground, FREDDIE, a very generic, androgenious figure, types away on his computer.

INT. KITCHEN - MORNING
In the cluttered kitchen, the early morning light serves as the sole illumination of the dim space. The soft rays bouncing off an assortment of glass jars.
FREDDIE, hunched over and with a blanket over his head, shuffles into the frame from the right and over to the coffee pot with his eyes mostly closed. As he makes the journey he runs into the furniture in the kitchen.
CUT:
CLOSE UP - COFFEE STATION ON COUNTER - SUGAR, CANS, SHAKERS WITH POWER, SYRUPS, SHELF ABOVE WITH SOFTLY GLOWING POTIONS - AREA LOOKS DISTINCTLY DIFFERENT FROM THE REST OF KITCHEN
FREDDIE’s hands make coffee and blindly add in accouterments from the coffee bar, knocking some things over and others missing his mug when added.
FREDDIE, in his messy, tired state, knocks one of the glowing potions over, which rolls until it eventually spills into the coffee. The coffee starts to glow.
CUT:

Bright, colored light bleeds out around the edges of the door. Explosions and a cackle can be heard from within. FREDDIE slowly blinks, before turning back to his mug.
CUT:
CAMERA CENTERS FACING FREDDIE
FREDDIE looks at the glowing mug and pauses. Shrugging, FREDDIE takes a drink from the mug.
Pink poof cloud covers screen
Cloud clears to reveal FREDDIE as a bat still holding the mug. FREDDIE makes a disgusted face in reaction to the drink. FREDDIE shugs and takes another sip from the mug, before turning and walking out for frame left.
CUT:
KITCHEN - WIDE SHOT - DOOR IS SEEN TO LEFT OF KITCHEN
FREDDIE, as a bat, finishes getting ready for the day, grabbing keys, headphones, and a bag.
FREDDIE leaves the apartment, still a bat, closing the door behind him.

Stagnant camera quickly cuts between parallel changes in Freddie’s sitting position and the time of day outside the window
Alarm goes off Freddie gets up and walks out of frame
Camera cuts to kitchen wide angle, which Freddie shuffles into hunched over and with a blanket.
Cut to a close up of the coffee counter. Freddie’s hands in the shot make coffee.
